Taxidermy

Taxidermy

What is taxidermy ?

The principle of taxidermy consists in building a structure that is nowadays made on polyethylene on which we reconstitute the shapes of the animal. This reconstitution was initially done in straw, the term stuffing designates the operation. Foam is used to shape the animal. The animal’s skin is then placed on top and adjusted, after having been tanned and protected by various chemical agents.

To best restore the characteristics of the animal and make the reconstruction as realistic as possible, glass eyes and other devices are used for certain organs that cannot be chemically preserved, such as the tongue.
